Go to the Altium web site, using the link on the EDS front page and download the Autotrax file atx161nd.exe after agreeing to their conditions of use which is freeware, save file to the root directory of a floppy disk or a USB memory drive.

Using Windows Explorer, select the file install.exe located in the root directory of your A floppy drive or E thumb drive and double click of the file name install.exe to start the installation process.

A window will open up showing Protel Installation Program version 1.2 <c> 1990, set directory options for TRAXEDIT Program > select A or E for source then press enter, > select C as destination then press enter, > press enter to accept \autotrax as the destination directory for the program to be installed into. If you have a previous installation of Autotrax on the computer, it will prompt you Directory is not empty, overwrite files ? Yes/No/Skip/Exit you can select Y for yes. It will then prompt you Are these choices correct Yes/No/Skip/Exit you can select Y for yes.

Next it will ask you for the directory options for Utilities, select the same options as you selected for Traxedit Program installation.

Next it will ask you for the directory options for Traxplot & Drivers, select the same options as you selected for Traxedit Program installation.

Next it will ask you for the directory options for Graphics Drivers, select the same options as you selected for Traxedit Program installation.

Next it will have a screen with graphics resolution to select, VGA640.drv VGA 640x480, use curser to move to desired selection and then enter.

This will complete the installation of Autotrax and return you to the windows desktop.

Open u a DOS command window by going to Start > All programs > Accessories > Command Prompt which will bring up a black DOS prompt window.

Type cd\autotrax to take you to the autotrax directory - once there the dos prompt will change to C:\AUTOTRAX - you can type dir then enter to view the directory contents.

Type traxedit.exe and the Autotrax program will start up, you will see a message "press any key to start" so press any key but preferably enter. to start using the program.
